An X-ray is a non-invasive, painless medical imaging technique used to visualize the internal structures of the body, particularly bones and joints. It is commonly employed to diagnose fractures and bone injuries, as well as to evaluate joint conditions such as arthritis and dislocations. Additionally, X-rays are used to assess the chest and lungs for various respiratory conditions, and can also provide insights into soft tissues and the presence of foreign objects within the body.
X-rays utilize a minimal amount of radiation to generate the necessary images. However, the clinical benefits derived from the diagnostic information typically outweigh the associated risks. And importantly, no radiation remains in the body after the imaging process is completed.
X-rays can, however, harm unborn babies. If you are pregnant, or could be pregnant, please let us know and an alternate course of action can be taken.
All that is required for the procedure is your referral and your presence. No special preparation is necessary for an X-ray; however, wearing loose-fitting clothing is recommended for ease. You may be asked to change into a gown and remove any metal objects, such as watches, jewellery, or piercings, as these items may interfere with the quality of the images.
No, you can walk in without an appointment. Some X-rays may only take a few minutes, however others can take longer. If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment, please don't hesitate to call us here
